California Bound

Two days after Christmas we packed up and jumped on a flight to California to visit the Air Force Millers. It was Jack's first flight, past his bed time and flying standby - thankfully we got on the plane and Jack seemed to enjoy flying. Trying to wrangle him in the airport before boarding was a different story though, and definitely a workout! It was such a new experience for him that he didn't sleep the whole flight through, despite it being quite late and neither did Crosby.  I think we got to Cory & Danette's house around 1 AM with both boys still awake, crazy, especially for my routine bedtime boys!

We had a blast while we were there: play time (which consisted of a lot of hockey, dressing up like firemen/superheros/star wars, cars, etc...), parks, seeing Golden Gate, a Children's museum, celebrating Cory and McKellyn's birthdays (including a visit to John's Incredible Pizza - which is like a nicer Chuck E Cheese's).  We had such a fun time with the Air Force Millers and the boys did much better traveling than we had expected.  By our return trip Jack was such a seasoned pro that he fell asleep during takeoff.  We are so grateful that we got to spend 5 nights with them and they were gracious enough to deal with our nap schedules, crazy last minute flight changes, weird kid food preferences and our lack of exposure to Downton Abbey.  We are blessed with wonderful, fun, thoughtful family and can't wait to visit again soon!

The apples don't fall far from the tree - all the boys scoping out the planes as they taxi by
